Control of Forest Fires in El Bolsón

After more than thirty days of intense work by brigades from the SPLIF (Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Service), volunteer firefighters, and hundreds of people dedicated to the operation, the government of Río Negro announced that the wildfires in El Bolsón have been controlled. These fires, which began in late January, affected around 3,900 hectares and destroyed more than 200 homes.

The governor of Río Negro, Alberto Weretilneck, shared on his social media: "We have lost much, but we have also saved much," highlighting both the losses and the achievements made during the fight against the fire. More than 400 people participated in efforts to contain the flames, with the support of aerial resources and about 50 mobile units, including fire trucks, tanker trucks, and rapid attack teams.

These wildfires not only impacted Río Negro, but also affected neighboring provinces such as Chubut and Neuquén, where efforts to extinguish the flames continue. Despite managing to control the situation in El Bolsón, authorities have stated that the work of emergency teams will continue, although there is currently no risk of the fires reigniting.
